Mystery Series to Try

I love reading mystery books, and even more so if they come in a series and so I can get to know the characters. I tend toward strong female main characters and a bit of action. I particularly like a well-rounded group of supporting characters.

Some favorite series that I’ve either started or completely finished:

  1. Robert Dugoni’s Tracy Crosswhite series set in Washington State: starting with My Sister’s Grave

  2. If you like your mysteries with lots of action, Louisa Luna’s Alice Vega series is great! Start with Two Girls Down

  3. How about a futuristic police procedural, combined with a billionaire romance? JD Robb’s In Death series is an amazing series with a whole fascinating cast of characters. Start with Naked in Death.

  4. This might sound strange combination, but Ariana Franklin’s series Mistress of the Art of Death series is about a female pathologist solving mysteries set in the middle ages. Start with Mistress of the Art of Death.

  5. If you enjoy Victorian sleuths, the Veronica Speedwell series is fun. Start at A Curious Beginning.

  6. And another period series, this time for Holmes fans, Laurie R. King’s Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes series, starting with The Beekeeper's Apprentice.
